How bad is the load shedding effecting you?!?

we're in the garden route, and at this stage we're without electricity on mondays, wednesdays and fridays from 14h00 - 15h30 and 18h00 - 20h30. Just wondering how the rest of the country is coping and how you have specifically been infuenced, by owning a restaurant, etc...

thanks! =)

I'm a manager at a club in Cape Town and the power outtages have caused us to lose a lot of business even though we do have a generator. Problem is you can only run so much off a generator.

Last year the power black outs cost us a lot of money as well, because of the power spikes it blew our transformers, pc's and fridges. Costing us thousands of rands to fix.
Reply:Business's are hit quite hard.

But my biggest concern is the traffic. How many accidents have been caused since all this has started?

The worst part of it all is that not many traffic officers have been designated to problem places. We had to take a longer route to work (and I'm 10 minutes away), it took us 45 minutes. This is seriously not on, and as Alf said... the supposed missconception about South africa not having electricity might soon become the truth. I mean who can wait 5 to 7 years for this to stop?

My baby's creche is having problems cooking for the kids as well because of the "power cuts" - thats what they are. Lets just drop the fancy words "Load shedding" my @rse... a black out is a black out!
Reply:I stay in witbank and living here all u see are powerstations. then they power shed you and look straight at the powerstation and want to scream.
Reply:Maklieki we must have telepathy! I have just now asked 2 similar questions! I am furious and think it is pathetic living like a homeless person with gas and candles in the 21st century! At least you know when the power goes off, we in Port Elizabeth have no idea...........only surprises! I am going to buy a generator this weekend.........but have no idea how much it cost. Feel like sending the government the bill for the generator and the diesel every month............
Reply:I live in a small town in the Northern Cape and we are not having problems with electricity. It looks like only the Cities r experiencing problems.
