We are "Thinking" of extending a brick built shed at the bottom of the garden into small kennels for dogs(thinking of breeding them) what is the best way to do this they will need to be scrubed out so maybe drainage etc etc........

Without knowing where you're located (UK maybe?) Both the first two answers have some validity. Answer number one describes what actually could be the case here in the US at most any Humane Society or Animal Control shelter/building.



As long as CODES won't be violated in getting rid of waste/sewage the concrete slab with plumbing, drains, a trough, built in with chain link fence as pens is how it's most often doen here.

Reply:concrete base throughout, so you fences and kennel sit on tops of this.



Angle the floor in each kennel area to on corner, this can then run out onto a concrete path, along the front of all the kennels or runs.



So you can also hose, brush the path all the way along after and have some form of drainage catch at the end, either in proper sewage pipe or big bucket.



Smaller scale, you can set a bucket into the concrete in each kennel corner, wash out into to this and lift it out to tip the contents away else where.



You need to design the shelter element of you kennel to make it easy to change bedding etc.. or just to air them off.



If you have a choice build them facing away from the worst of the weather but also think of summer shade

Reply:i think it would have been easier to knock the brick one down as it would be tricky to extend, personally i would either buy or make a wooden shed to there size and build i pen round that, you can get a deranged kit from B%26amp;Q and add a up lifed heater in there to, to keep them warm (this is what were in the middle of doing now for our dog.s) hope this has help!
