Am the only one who thinks the trinity concept is confusing?

I have read the Bible from cover to cover more than once and I know how the church decribes the trinity as being 1 god with three personalities but I think the Bible is saying something differently. From what I understand is that the Lord our God is one. Jesus is the son of God but not God. He makes this clear by praying to God continuously. When he was in the garden he asked God to remove "this bitter cup from me." He was afraid to die but in the end he told God, "Let YOUR will be done." Even on the cross he asked, "Father why have you forsaken me?" Jesus always made a difference between the two. Even when He said the father and he were one. He then went on to say that they dwell within each other and so can we. But there still is a distinction. And I believe that the Holy Spirit is the comforter. The spirit of God that dwells among us. Feel free to shed some light. Please give me Biblical answers not things you heard from church.

Am the only one who thinks the trinity concept is confusing?
well, you have to keep in mind that the stories in the bible are probably misconstrued. if i tell you a story, and you tell it someone else, etc, eventually its going to change somewhat. now, those stories are from 2000 years ago or more, back when the only ppl that could write were the richest most powerful ppl. and the first thing that the bible teaches us is that man is flawed. so, wouldnt it make sense to think that those stories are at least a little bit incorrect from how they started? as in jesus asking why he was forsaken. we dont have any real evidence that it happened.

that all said, i think that the idea of the holy spirit was what god used when he needed to intervene in human affairs, without having a corporeal form.

Reply:John14:7-11. If you had know Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.

1 Corinthians 12:3-7. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

Revelation 1:8. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

1John: 5:6-8. This is He who came by water and by blood- Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And t is the Spirit who bears witness because these three are one. For there are three that bear witness in Heaven; The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth; the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.

Philippians 2:5-11. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God. But made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in the appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and those on earth, and of those under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father.

1John 4:1-3. Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God; every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God; and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

Colossians 1:15-16. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers, all things were created through Him and for Him.

11John 7. For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

John1:1-5. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

John3:12-13. If I had told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven. That is the Son of Man who is in heaven.

John4:21-26. Jesus said to her, “woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither worship on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship; for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth .”

The woman said to Him, I know that Messiah is coming (who is called the Christ) when He comes, He will tell us all things. Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”

John 8:58. Jesus said to them, “most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” (I AM, in other words; He was without beginning, the ever-present One)

John 10:30. “I and the Father are one.”

John10:38. “but I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.”

John 11. He raised Lazarus from the dead, proving Himself God

John 14: 7-11.” if you had know Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” Philip said to Him, Lord show us the Father and it is sufficient for us. Jesus said, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me Philip. He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say show us the Father? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and He in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.

John 14:16-18. and I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper that He may abide with you forever- the Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

John14:23. Jesus answered and said to him, if any one loves Me, he will keep My Word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

Matthew 22:42-46. Jesus asked them, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is Him? They said to Him, the Son of David. He said to them, how then does David in the Spirit call Him Lord. Saying the Lord said to my Lord, sit at My right hand. Till I make Your enemies Your footstool. If David calls Him Lord, how is He His Son?

Mark2:5-12. In this Jesus shows He had the right, power and authority to forgive sins, as only God can forgive sins.

Matthew 11:2-6.and when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples. And said to Him, are You the Coming One, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said to them, God and tell John the things which you hear and see. The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. Blessed is he who is not offended because of Me. Only God can do these things.

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD was manifest in the FLESH, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, BELIEVED ON in the world, RECEIVED UP into glory."

i have collected my own and every ones' else Bible verses. there are more if you want. joyganosis@yahoo.com
Reply:Look...I have spent years on this issue...It can no more be settled definitively than the "loose your salvation vs.eternal security" controversy. I finally made peace inside with this somewhat paradoxical observation ; God's justice is so absolute that none will be admitted to His Heaven...and yet His mercy is so powerful that Hell will be empty. In other words when the True believers all reach the place of reward no one will utter the phrase,"I told you so". We will be simultaneously wrong on most things."God's ways and thoughts are higher, and His foolishness, wiser and all that." The honest skeptic of the subject of Trinity must admit that there are "3" and "1". Jesus did not say, "I am God"...but He did say "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father". He either blasphemed or He is Deity. Am I right?
Reply:I have heard this compared to the way a single person can have many different roles -such as a man being someone's son, someone's father, and someone's friend - while still being just one man.
Reply:No, your not alone. Even christian religious leaders were and are confused, that's why they coined the phrase "It's a mystery"
Reply:You could think of it the way that Wiccans see the Triple Goddess. We worship Her as the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone, three aspects based on the phases of the moon and the faces that women can portray: as an unmarried girl/young woman, a woman who is old enough to be a mother, and a woman who has lived many years and has gained wisdom through those years. The three faces are just that, three different aspects of the same Person.
Reply:Look, it's really quite simple. God is one, yet God is three, and the one is three and the three are one, yet the one is NOT three and the three are NOT one, and I am he as you are he as you are me and we are altogether. Googoogajoob.

Okay, seriously...three-in-one gods? One god with multiple avatars? These ideas are pagan. Try and find such a concept in the Hebrew scriptures--you can't. There are dozens and dozens of scriptures saying "The Lord our God is ONE Lord," but you won't find any saying "The Lord our God is Three Lords in one," or anything similar. The ancient Jews would have stoned you to death for believing such a concept, for it would have been tantamount to worshipping multiple gods.

Even in the New Testament, there is no such word as "trinity." There are a few verses that can sort of be interpreted so as to seem to refer to a trinity, but they are ambiguous at best. I can say with certainty that JEsus did not consider himself part of any trinity--if he did, he would have clearly said so, and then there would be some completely absurd situations, such as God praying to God in the garden of Gethsemane, or God forsaking himself on the cross, or God stating clearly that he HAS a God, or God sacrificing himself to himself in order to save humanity from his own wrath.

You know, the Bible says that God is not the author of confusion, so why are you confused about this subject? One would think that such a vitally important concept would have been spelled out clearly by your "omniscient" deity, so that you wouldn't be so confused about what it is and how it works. I mean, he IS the one who supposedly wrote the Bible, isn't he? If you don't understand it, then maybe it isn't because you're reading it wrong, but because the author was full of crap.
Reply:If God is One then he cannot have a son and having a son besides this God makes two.

Human beings are born and grow to old age, sometimes, and die, and are therefore in need of sons and daughters to carry on with the species.

God is One, He is, He always was, and always will be, and needs no son or wife or partner.

Son of God comes from Greek mythology with Zeus the Sun or Weather God being an uncircumcised man-God in the sky who came down on Earth occassionally and impregnated women to produce sons of God. Caesar was a son of God.

TRUTH IS INDEED A HEAVY MESSAGE – TO BE OR NOT TO BE

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: “Well Master, thou hast said the Truth: for there is ONE GOD, and there is None other but He.” Mark 12:32

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The Gospel of Christ was preached before any disciple was named. (See Matthew 4:23, 9:35, 11:4 – 5, and Mark 1:14 – 15)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The Gospel of Christ was preached without any mention of physical violence to the Messiah. (See Matthew 4:23-25, Chapters 5 - 10, 11:4 – 5, and Mark 1:14 – 15)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The Gospel of Christ was preached without as much as a whisper of any crucifixion of any sort. (See Matthew 4:23, Chapters 5 –10, 9:35, 11:4 – 5, and Mark 1:14 – 15)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Christ sent out his disciples who successfully preached his Gospel without mention of any physical harm coming to the Christ and without a word of a crucifixion of any sort. (See Matthew 10:1 – 42, Mark 6:7 – 13, Luke 9:1 – 10)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Roman Governor of Jerusalem, Pontius Pilate, declared Christ innocent of all false accusations that were brought against him, (See Luke 23:4,14, 15, 22, John 18:38, 19:46)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Roman Governor, Herod of Galilee, declared Christ innocent (Luke23: 15) making Christ a free man under Roman Power and Authority (Luke 23:20, John19:12)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Three Gospels give evidence that Christ bore no cross and made no physical contact with the trappings of crucifixion. (See Matthew 27:32, Mark 15:21, Luke 23:26)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Three Gospels give evidence that one Simon of Cyrene, who was not the Christ, was made to bear a cross to Golgotha. (See Matthew 27:32-37, Mark 15:21-26, and Luke 23:26-38) and this indicates to us that there were three crosses on the way to Golgotha, none of which Christ carried.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The Gospel of John alone gives evidence that the cross that was borne by Jesus carried the inscription, “JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS” (John 19:16-22).

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Two of the four Gospels have given us two crosses out of three with the inscribed name of “JESUS”. (Matthew 27:37, John 19:19)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Governor Pontius Pilate was the author of the inscription and title of “JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS” and this was therefore the official title of the crucifixion of two thieves by Roman authority. (John 19:19-22)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The “Jesus” of the Gospels is not the Christ but the thieves who were crucified. The Christ was not crucified nor is Jesus the Christ, as the Gospel of John would have us believe, “That ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ”. (John 20:31)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The name “Jesus “ is a Roman title and is not the name of the son of the virgin of Isaiah 7:14, and nowhere in the Gospels does the virgin name her child as Jesus.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: None of the four Gospels mention the presence of two thieves for crucifixion during the trials and the scourging, or before all three crosses arrive at Golgotha. (Matthew 27:38, Mark 15:27, Luke 23:33, John 19:18)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: It was only when the procession arrived at Golgotha that the Gospels came to realise that there were actually three crosses and that two thieves made the trip to Golgotha for crucifixion. (Matthew 27:38, Mark 15:27, Luke 23:33, John 19:18)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: "Jehu is King." (II Kings 9:13) Jehu means “He is Jah” and Jehu was anointed "King over Israel." (II Kings 9:12), making him Jehu Christ.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: There is no Jesus Christ in the Old Testament but there is a Jehu Christ, King over Israel (II Kings 9:2-3). Jehu translates He is Jah, but Jesus is a combination of Jah and Zeus and an attempt to make Zeus equal with Jah.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23) is the name that was commanded for the Messiah, the son of the virgin, by the Lord, God of the Children of Israel.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The name “Immanuel” is Hebrew for “God with us” while the name “Jesus” is not of the Hebrew language and is neither Greek nor Latin for “God with us” but combines Jah (Hebrew) and Zeus (Greek) to unite Jah with Zeus.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The name of “Jesus” was Pontius Pilate’s officially declared and written name of the crucified King of the Jews, (Matthew 27:37, Mark 15:26, John 19:19-22).

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Pilate overruled Jewish objections to the name of Jesus that was officially inscribed on all three crosses and he left the inscriptions as they were (John 19:21).

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Nowhere, in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, does anyone make the claim, “I am Jesus” nor does anyone claim, “I am the Christ” nor does anyone claim, “I am Jesus Christ”.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The name, “Jesus”, is used approximately 616 times in the four Gospels with 171 in Matthew, 95 in Mark, 100 in Luke and 250 in John.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The title “Christ” is used 51 times in the four Gospels with 12 in Matthew, 8 in Mark, 12 in Luke and 19 in John.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Jesus is therefore used just over 12 times as much as Christ in the four Gospels, with a ratio of 12.12 to 1. The number 12 is of great importance in the worship of Zeus the Sun God, with twelve months in the year being representative of the twelve disciples.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Zeus is the Sky God that was worshipped by the Romans as the God of Gods and the Father of Gods and men, and it was among the priests and worshippers of Zeus that Paul and Barnabas performed their “miracles” and preached “the “Living God.” (Acts of the Apostles 14:12 –13)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: It was none other than Zeus the Sky God who is alleged to have spoken from the Midday Sun to Paul saying, “I am Jesus.” (See Acts of the Apostles 9:5, 22:8, and 26:15)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Paul’s three accounts of his close encounter with Zeus in the midday Sun produced witnesses who saw and did not see the light, who heard yet did not hear the voice, and who stood yet fell to the earth. .” (See Acts of the Apostles 9:5, 22:8, and 26:15)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The light of Paul’s Jesus from the midday Sun was “above the brightness of the Sun,” shone “round about” Paul and blinded him, yet he assumed that it came from the Heavens above, so Paul himself also saw yet did not see. .” (See Acts of the Apostles 9:5, 22:8, and 26:15)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Zeus the Sky God and Father God speaks in a voice from the Sky at the Baptism of Jesus, “my beloved son,” while the Holy Spirit descended “like a dove.” (Matthew 3:17, Mark 1:11, Luke 3:22)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Jesus is described with the features of Zeus the Sky God at the Transfiguration as “his face did shine as the Sun, and his raiment as white as the light” (See Matthew 17:2),

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Jesus is described with the features of Zeus the Sky God at the Transfiguration, “And his raiment became shining exceeding white as Snow (See Mark 9:3)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Jesus is described with the features of Zeus the Sky or Weather God at the Transfiguration, “And there was a cloud that overshadowed them”, (with the unmistakable voice of Zeus) “and a voice came out of the cloud saying, this is my beloved son” (See Mark 9:7)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: Jesus transforms into Zeus the Sky or Weather God at the Transfiguration, “his countenance was altered and his raiment was white and glistering” (See Luke 9:29), “and there came a cloud and overshadowed them” (Luke 9: 34) “and there came a voice out of the cloud” (Luke 9:35), and all of this is in a meeting with Elisha (or Eliseus of Luke 4:27).

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The name, Jesus, is a combination of Jah and Zeus as The intention of Governor Pontius Pilate to match the false charges made by the Biblical Jews that he made himself a God and a Son of God. Jah is the God of Israel while Zeus is the God of pagan Rome.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: The Angel at the tomb is none other than Zeus, with the same features as Jesus (Jezeus) in the Transfiguration; “His countenance was like the lightening and his raiment white as snow.” (Matthew 28:3)

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: “And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” (Matthew 5:29), meaning, I cant save you. You have got to save yourself by your own hands and your own effort.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: “And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” (Matthew 5:29), meaning, I cant save you. You have got to save yourself by your own hands and your own effort.

TRUTH IN THE BIBLE IS: “Think not that I am come to send peace on Earth. I came not to send peace but the sword.” (Matthew 10:34) The War on Terrorism today began in Jerusalem and is more intense internationally now than when it began, with the three main combatants being Israel, the Muslims and Christians.
