Question for everyone: Did God forgive Adam and Eve?

Agnostic, not wanting to convert anyone. Just find the following interesting from Christian mythology.

Genesis 3:8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. (New King James Version)

Consider that the "fig leave" ie "man's way".

Now read this:

Genesis 3:21 Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them. (New King James Version)

So God made tunics of skin, so they didn't have to hide, that means an innocent animal was slaughtered. In Judeo-Christian mythology "God's Way" is the shedding of innocent blood, including the legendary Jesus.

So, in the story of Adam and Eve, do you believe as I do, that the God forgave the Adam and the Eve. There might have been a punishment yes, but there was a forgiveness.

What shocks me is the number of fundamentalist Christians who don't believe this.

Question for everyone: Did God forgive Adam and Eve?
hey how are been such a long time to see you ...yes i think God forgave them
Reply:Purpal and Jim, if God could totally forgive without Jesus, then His death was in vain. The OT is quite clear that sin could not be totally forgiven until the Messiah came. A sad response. Report Abuse
Reply:Ty Suzanne but we all have a right to beleave and to also speak our minds ty very much God Bless . Report Abuse
Reply:Adam and Eve Repent and God Accepts.

When Adam and Eve realized that they have disobeyed God by eating the fruit they called:

"They said:

'Our Lord we have wronged ourselves souls. If You forgive us not and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers' " (Quran 7:23)

And God accepts their plea:

".. Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so he went Astray. Then his Lord chose him, and turned to him with forgiveness, and gave him guidance." (Quran 20:121-122)

The Outcome.

Adam and Eve were instructed not to eat from a certain tree. Satan deceitfully tricked them into disobeying their Lord and as a result:

"(God) said:

'Get down (from the Garden), one of you an enemy to the other [i.e. Adam, Eve, and Satan]. On earth will be a dwelling-place for you and an enjoyment -- for a short time'. He (God) said:

'Therein you shall live, and therein you shall die, and from it you shall be brought out [i.e. resurrected].' "

(Quran 7:24-25).

Adam and Eve were ordered to leave the Garden which they where in and descend to earth where they and their children will live and die, and where Satan will also be.
Reply:Jesus would not have raised Adam and Eve from the dead if God hadn't forgiven them for their sins.

Adam and Eve believed in the salvation of Jesus Christ and rose from the dead. Adam and Eve likely lived for a time, just as the other people who rose from the dead, and died another physical death. The Holy Traditions may say differently, but Adam and Eve are in paradise with their Creator as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Reply:Yes, God forgave them, He is a just and loving God. He did banish them from the Garden of Eden, but they had to repent of their sins, and bear the burden of their sins.
Reply:Jim, there's a difference between having your sin "covered" and your sin "forgiven." All folks living in OT times merely had their sins "covered;" the righteous understood that the Messiah would come at some point in history and permanently attone for their sins, thus reconciling them back to God. In this context, and to address your fig leaf/animal skin observation, I believe God merely "covered" Adam and Eve's sin through the shedding of blood; but He didn't forgive it, because they were both cast out of the Garden, never to return.

Whether Adam and Eve were ultimately forgiven depends upon their understanding of this process. Since they taught Cain and Abel about offerings and living righteously before the Lord, I think they did. Rabbinical literature suggests Eve's comment at Genesis 4:1 meant she thought she'd given birth to the Messiah.

And to clarify, it is not "God's way" to shed innocent blood; this would violate the 6th Commandment, "thou shalt not murder." In the OT, it was "God's way" to show the Jews through SYMBOLISM that, in order for a blood sacrifice to properly attone for sins, the animal being sacrificed must take on the sins of the people, thus making it guilty; this is the reason why the priests or the offerer always "laid hands" on the animal before it was killed. This laid the pathway for the Messiah's sacrifice, whereby the sins of believers were attributed (or transferred) to Him, although He was sinless to begin with.

Peace.
Reply:To answer your question yes GOD did forgive Adam and Eve. There was a cost for Adam's disobedience; Genesis 3:16-19.
Reply:Forgiveness doesn't mean the person who has mande a crime doesn't get his punishment regardless.
Reply:Yes and yes, but they got off easy. We, according to the bible, were/are punished for their "crime". Most of the responses you hear to that is, "God sent Jesus to atone for the sins of mankind, and it is through him, we are forgiven and enter heaven" or something along those lines.

What I find shocking is these same Christians position themselves as the way to Christ/God by professing the scriptures. I'm not sure whether they're aware of that or not, but it does give credence to the social order theory of religion. (not new to me either)

'I am more learned regarding the bible than you are, and closer to God and Jesus. You should listen to me...'
Reply:At least you understand the idea of God's justice a need for a sacrificial atonement and its connection with forgiveness. I am somewhat impressed even though you consider it to be myth.
Reply:Of course he did he forgives all of us so why wouldn't he forgive them
Reply:Yeah man, they had kiddies: God must have been cool with them

to let um bounce a couple of ankle biters out...

I am more interested in God walking in the Garden...Never heard the Bible talking about God's physicality before, Jesus yes....God No - this has some wide implications

Of which these don't count: Do you reckon he had nice legs? buns of steel maybe? I would have thought so
Reply:its questions like this where I as a human feel like I am god, and it really dosent say much about your religion that its CHEAP. I am sorry but there are times when I feel like i am GOD. THATS WHY I CHOOSE islam or to be a muslim. I mean the only thing i got form the BIBLE was that it says something about LOVE. love is something very powerful.

Other than that what gives a perosn right to PUT A bible in a hotel in usa. I mean yes its good to do drugs and hang out there for guidance. but why just one standard. I mean I feel like does everyone has to go tru a face of SOMETHING SOMETHING in order to get FREEDOM IN USA. JUST LOOK AT THE HISTORY. Muslims are the CURRENT ones. Now how long will this go. I like bible, I cant hate it but its just to say that ITS BIBLE ITS A BOOK OF GOD. It should be respected.

example: the muslim quran. The reader or user of quran has to do wudu, its washing of face, wet hair hands and legs. than you can get access to QURAN. DONT you think little stuff like this makes a religion cheap. I am not hating on your religion. Its just shows that a religion cares.

I am with ya till you say Jesus is son of god. Other than that muslims is the same as CHRISTIANITY. EXACTLY THE SAME. just up to jesus. \

ps. quran or the muslim bible is @ its single version since it was REVEALED. 1 version. all gods thoughts. NOT yours or mine or BUSH's thought.
Reply:I think a better question is Did Adam and Eve ever forgive God. And should they?
Reply:Adam and Eve were forgiven. They were the most valiant and chosen in the preexistence.

Adam and Eve are honored and reverenced in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

If it wasn't for Eve's decision, we wouldn't have progressed and known the difference between good and evil, and we wouldn't have been created, and we wouldn't know joy.

I know that Adam and Eve are part of the great Plan of Salvation that has been prepared for all of Gods children.
Reply:jeez i believe wat the bible says
Reply:That God does seem to have more than a fair share of "grudges" tho, if ya subscribe to that mythos ...
Reply:god always forgive but nobody forgets
Reply:My point was illustrated well by St. Toad. Now they and all their descendants die, and in so many terrible ways. Plus, how would any of us not believe if he came down and walked and talked with us, like he used to. Would you consider yourself forgiven by your parents if they kicked you out and never visited you again, just because you ate a piece of the cake they set out right in front of you? (After all, weren't they like children, if real)Not me, dude.
Reply:If they were true and just to ask His forgiveness and make the atonement necessary at that time, YES they were forgiven.
Reply:You SHOULD be a Christian with such good insight.

Yes, God teaches that just because there are consequences to sin, doesn't mean there is not forgiveness. There is nothing in the story that leads me to believe that they were not forgiven. I didn't even need the parallel of the animal skins to see that they were forgiven, but I should have seen that parallel right away. Thank you for pointing it out to me.
Reply:Both of them suffered a lot for their misdeed. So they received

serious punishment from God. According to Islam both of them

is now in heaven.God forgave both of them that's why they are

in heaven.
Reply:He Damned them and all of their descendants. Some forgiveness...
Reply:Well the Christian God is supposed to be a forgiving God, so a true Christian would have to say yes, He did forgive them.
Reply:Thanks For Your Question :)

Well I'm a Muslim and to me God simply forgives Adam for what he did God says clearly in the Quraan : Then Adam received from his Lord Words . And his Lord pardoned him (accepted his repentance). Verily, He is the One Who forgives (accepts repentance), the Most Merciful.

It is much much more simply in Islam and more logical too , if you want to know more about logic and scientific facts that are in the Quraan which was recently discovered or if you have any other question please feel free to contact me on abouterachess@yahoo.com
Reply:yes i believed that he forgave Adam and eve,and just like he forgave me to.one thing about god is he will punish you because we are all hes children but one good thing about it HE LOVES STILL and that something i love god about.he may punish us but it don't last tho.in the bible it say trouble don't last always.but he promise me a brighter day.
Reply:Why would that shock you? They pick and choose what they want out of thier religion.

The same way they act at a salad bar or buffet.

It's either all or nothing with religion folks, sorry but the buffet is closed...
Reply:Jesus died for our sins.
Reply:Not really. Please, my answer is very serious. Since Eve committed the Fall with the archangel (which was a sexual act (what part did they cover?)) and then passed it on to Adam, they're responsible for the whole of humanity to live in the fallen realm of satan. Slowly, it is being restored, but Adam and Eve are hiding in the darkness. They will eventually be forgiven, but God will never forgive satan.
Reply:In Islam We are Taught God did forgive Adam and Eve Cuz they repented of there Error.Allah is all Forgiving and merciful...... If He was not forgiving He Could have wiped them out in on snap.
Reply:Correction-the shedding of innocent blood is not God's way. That was the penalty for sin-death. In order to "cover' their sin-an innocent animal had to to die (or God would have killed Adam and Eve on the spot). The animal did no wrong. It does not seem fair or right. But we always underestimate the consequences of sin. When dealing with sin-it will never be fair, there will always be a sacrifice. Jesus was the final blood sacrifice for the sins of the world. However, today, even though we are "under the blood", if some one sins against you-you must still sacrifice your "rights" as a victim in order for forgiveness.
Reply:Yes I believe that God has forgiven them, as he forgives me and you for our sins.
