Mormons: Where did the atonement take place?

In the garden? On the cross? Both? Doesn't the Bible tell us that without shedding of blood there is no remission of sin?

Mormons: Where did the atonement take place?
Matthew 26:37, 39

37 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

OK, that tells us "where" part of the Atonement took place..

(I know you do not believe in these sciptures, but you asked the Mormons and we do believe these...)

Mosiah 3: 7. (King Benjamin speaking of Christ)

7 And lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people.

D%26amp;C 19: 18 (16-19).

16 For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;

17 But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;

18 Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink—

I believe the Atonement, the suffering for sin part was made in the Garden of Gethsemane. Then Christ sealed the sacrifice for sin, which he had already "paid" for, with the giving of His life on the cross. We believe He willfully gave His life for us, if He had not given of His life, the Atonement could not have been made...so both needed to take place, not only death on the cross and not only the suffering in the Garden, but both.

Thanks for asking.

Reply:I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints(LDS, Mormon) Both--in the Garden and on the cross.

The blood of the Lamb is what makes the Atonement possible. Without it there is not a remission of sin.

He bled from every pore in the Garden and was crucified on the cross.

I am so thankful for my Savior Jesus Christ and the gift He has given me. Without Him I would be cast out forever. He is the life, the light and the way. I testify to the truth and reality of the Atonement and the part it plays in all Heavenly Father's Children's Lives. I humbly say these things through the grace of Jesus Christ.
Reply:Good question. I'm a bible believer. Jesus said, "Drink of this fruit of the vine. This is my blood that is shed for the remission of sins.".

Too many think water baptism washes away our sins. But Jesus said that it is His blood that is shed for the remission of sins of many.".

Water baptism only represents it. The old man dies, the new man raises up in Christ alive forever more (death %26amp; resurrection).
Reply:It was both. The Atonment was a long process. The garden was one phase of the Atonment as was the cross, and the resurrection.
Reply:We believe that Jesus' atoning sacrifice took place in both the Garden of Gethsemane as well as on the cross.

See Luke 22 and 1 Nephi 11.
Reply:In the Garden Christ accepted the burden of our sin. Whether it was blood or sweat of both, is unimportant compared to how he loved us.

The Bible in Psalms 51 says that there is something better than the shedding of blood.

15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Reply:No, it took place everywhere the Mormons went, they had Danenites or Avenging Angels to carry out the killings, anyone who tried to leave the church or was a Apostate had their throats slit from ear to ear and were disemboweled. The only reason they don't still practice this is because the Federal Government put a stop to it, to Mormons either you are a Mormon or you are a Apostate and the punishment for being a Apostate is death. If I am a Mormon and you are not it is OK for me to kill you, I will be elevating your soul and mine at the same time.
Reply:Both. His blood was shed in the garden and on the cross, and when the soldiers whipped him as Isaiah prophesied would happen. Why do you ask? And why do you want to hear it from the Mormons?
